ACC 2019 Legislative Conference

ACC has a long standing history of working across political parties to advance the College's mission to transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health. The Oklahoma ACC delegation met with Oklahoma Members of Congress or their health policy staff to discuss issues and concerns important to cardiovascular clinicians and their patients.

We discussed issues including:

Ask #1: Reducing administrative burdens and promotion clinician well-being; streamlining Prior Authorization; and increasing the transparency of the Medical Advantage program. We encouraged Members of Congress to support H.R. 3107.

Ask #2: Promote the successful transition to value-based payments via modernization of the Stark Law/Anti-Kickback Statute. We encouraged Members of Congress to support HR 2282.S. 966.

Ask #3: Increasing patient access to cardiac rehab via APP supervised visits. This was approved last year, but won't begin until 2024. We encouraged Members of Congress to support HR 3911 to accelerate the phase in to 2020.

Ask #4: Promote the transformation of CV care and improve heart health (ACC's mission) by co-sponsoring the South Asian Heart Health Awareness & Research Act of 2019 (H.R. 3131. This bill includes several provisions tocombat youth tobacco epidemic by increasing the age to 21 and imposing restrictions on flavored e-cigarettes.
